Über Uns

Chartered in 2009, we are a Rotary Club dedicated to Berlin’s international community. Our members represent 14 nations and our meetings are held in English.

Our members come from different walks of life. With an average age of about 48 years, we are one of the youngest Rotary Clubs in town since November 2009. All of us are full-time professionals in various fields who are committed to the Rotary vision. In our projects, we try to contribute with the means that are given to us. Thus, the success of our club is the result of the synergetic work of our members.

The Rotary Club Berlin International meets on Fridays and features two meeting formats. Our Sunrise Meetings are for the early risers who want to enjoy a good start into the day by having breakfast with us. These meetings start at 8:00 am and are open for all Rotarians and for non-Rotarians by invitation only. Each second Friday of the month we meet for our Happy Hour at 6:00 pm. This Happy Hour gives members and guests the opportunity to enjoy Rotarian fellowship in a less formal way and – at the same time – support the work of the Rotary Foundation with a donation that is part of the attendance fee. The attendance fees are 20 EUR for the Sunrise Meeting, including breakfast, and for the Happy Hour 20 EUR, including a cocktail (also non-alcoholic).

The 9th of May is Rotary Action Day in Germany. This year, we took advantage of the sunny weather to venture out and clean up a little corner of Berlin, alongside our young colleagues from Rotaract Berlin International. In less than two hours, twenty Rotaractors and Rotarians of all ages - from 22 to 70 - gathered up ten heavy bags of rubbish from Böcklerpark. We collected cigarette butts, bottle caps, crisp packets, paper cups, plastic bags, food wrappers, torn clothes, and much, much more. All participating agreed it was great way to do a public service while getting some light exercise!

How AI Transforms the Second-Hand Market
The average German owns 95 clothing items — and only wears half of them. Behind this unused potential lies a massive economic and ecological opportunity. momox is Europe's largest re-commerce platform, giving over 200,000 items a second life every day — from books and media to fashion. Unlike traditional retail, every used product is unique. That makes scaling secondhand operations one of the most complex challenges in e-commerce. Artificial intelligence is the key: from real-time pricing and automated quality assessment to logistics optimization - only technology makes the circular economy scalable. The central thesis: sustainability requires efficiency. Only when reuse becomes as easy and economically viable as buying new will the circular economy move from niche to a real alternative.

Short CV
Claudia Frese is CEO of momox SE, Europe’s leading re-commerce company. She has many years of leadership experience in the digital and tech sectors, including as CEO of STRATO AG and member of the Executive Board at IONOS SE, CEO of MyHammer AG and supervisory board member at Auto1 Group SE. Her focus is on scalable business models that combine economic success with a sustainable impact. At momox, she is driving forward internationalisation and the use of technology and AI. The aim is to establish second-hand goods as an integral part of consumption and to further strengthen the circular economy.
